What’s your cancer-ever-after?

Dec 29, 2019

January is named for the two-faced Roman god, Janus. One side faces the ending of the old year; the other side faces the beginning of the new.

I love that the end is the same path as the beginning. It’s the same duality as darkness and light.

Beginning/ending. Darkness/light. Before/after.

Cancer creates a before and after in our lives.

We can choose how we view our own After.

Will cancer make us bitter? Resentful? Uncertain, afraid and angry at the world?

Or will cancer open us to deeper meaning, a path to our truest nature?

According to Wikipedia:

Janus presided over the beginning and ending of conflict, and hence war and peace. The gates of a building in Rome named after him (...an open enclosure with gates at each end) were opened in time of war, and closed to mark the arrival of peace.

Let’s close the gate on all the conflict, struggle and strain of 2019.

Let’s open the gate of peace for 2020.

Open yourself up for a brand-new beginning.

Opening yourself up to the new takes courage.

It takes courage and deliberateness to turn your back on what’s come before - to consciously and intentionally choose a new way forward - to purposefully forge a path of peace and joy.

I know you can do it.
